AM Lodge is looking for an experienced Mechanic. The position will be on a fixed-term basis located in Hoedspruit. The incumbent will be responsible for inspecting, repairing and maintaining company vehicles. Ensure that vehicles and equipment’s are in optimal working condition at all times. The goal is to ensure the functionality and reliability of vehicles, engines, and mechanical systems.
KEY DELIVERABLES:
Duties
To maintain and repair all the vehicles at the Lodge.
Inspecting machines, engines, transmissions etc. and running diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues.
Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability.
Report problems and resolve them in a timely manner.
Perform thorough maintenance on cars.
Service tractors and TLB’s.
Replenish fluids and components of engines.
Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to vehicle users.
Undertake other duties as assigned (e.g., repair of hydraulic systems, painting vehicles etc.)
Keep logs of work and report on issues. Manage the workshop including the diesel tank.
Oversee all working tools and equipment signed in and out.
Submit monthly budget to the General Manager.
Other Maintenance Duties
- Repairing furniture and building system components for the purpose of ensuring a safe working condition.
- Responding to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
- Transporting a variety of tools, equipment and supplies for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site.
- Maintaining assigned tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability in safe operating conditions.
- Performing a wide variety of general and semiskilled maintenance activities (e.g., carpentry, painting, electrical, etc.) for the purpose of completing projects within established time frames.
GENERAL
Perform any other duty as per operational requirements, and management’s discretion, on the condition that it is lawful.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:

| Mechanical Diploma or relevant qualification. High school diploma is preferred; Certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is a definite plus. Completed Trade TestDriver’s License with PDPFirst Aid 1,2/3 would be an added advantage. | 2-4 years’ experience in the mechanical environment. Proven experience as MechanicKnowledge of replacing toroid ends, shackles, ball joints, exhaust brackets and shocks. Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instruction, blueprints etc. A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelinesBe able to fix brush cutters and chain saws and service them as well.Be able to work with various machines and tools. |
